Elizabeth Cain
Executive Director

Elizabeth is a seasoned urban development professional with over ten years of experience. She has continuously worked closely with city officials to ensure that Jersey City lives up to its full potential.  As the Executive Director of the Historical Downtown Special Improvement District, Elizabeth spearheaded the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza, restaurant row and Groove on Grove. Elizabeth has also opened two flourishing small businesses in the area and is enthusiastic about continuing to serve Jersey City.

Martin Schmid
Research and Program Assistant

Martin has a true passion for the not for profit sector with deep interests in local government, economic development, and public service. He has worked for elected officials in the New York State Senate, the State Assembly, the New York City Council, and has experience working in a public-private partnership at a business improvement district. Martin joins the team to serve in a “boots on the ground” role; photographing and documenting improvements and maintenance that need to be addressed, as well as following up on repairs and special projects.

Administrative Assistant

Rachel is an experienced communications professional with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and public relations sector. Through various volunteer opportunities, Rachel discovered her true passion is to give back to her community and make Jersey City a better place. Rachel joins the Exchange Place alliance team to assist the team with marketing, press updates and event execution.
